Last week, after long consideration, I gave in and picked up one of my long forgotten hobbies; radio controlled airplane. I didn’t get to write about it since my internet provider left me unconnected for a week. Well during that week I build a small depron model with a brushless motor, tried to fly it, crashed, glued it together, and flew it successfully. The first crash however, didn’t do much good the the structural strength of the plane. After all, the wing broke. But I found that my flying skills weren’t that bad, so this weekend, I build a new model. Depron is really cheap
This is how it looks:

Spec and performance
Wingspan: 80cm
Take off weight: 230g
Engine: Hyperion Z2205 46 turn brushless
Propeller: 8×4 inch
battery: 3Cell, 400mAh LiPo
Flight time: 8-15 minutes
It is perfectly capabel of vertical takeoff, hovering and full 3D flight. I, on the other hand, am not capabel of all that yet. Ordinary flying and landings works out. Even if it is a pretty fast and responsive model, it is remarkably stable. Nice stalled out landings are reeally not difficult at all.
This turned out to be very fun. I haven’t really been flying any model planes since I started to fly real sailplanes in 1991, but I still got it. I’m not very good yet, but I am able to fly without too many accidents. One extremely good thing about this model is that it can be flown on very small spaces. Last weekend I flew on a small ice field. It was dark, but the field was lit by flood lights.
Hopefully this model will last a bit longer than the first one.
