inspired to process

As it happened, my little peek over at Diane Varners site inspired me to do some more Photoshop work. Just recently we set up the first print exchange at my new blog, Better In Print. I haven’t announced it too much here, but the three of us, Martin, robert, and I, selected one of our own prints and sent it to the other two. The purpose was to get some feedback, and to enjoy the prints of others. Oh, why don’t you just have a look and see what it is about.

Anyway, all this inspired me to reprocess the “Path to nowhere” again, which I have done for several days now, but tonight I made a leap forward. Now I really think I am approaching what I want to show with that picture.

And here is the old version.

Just give it some love…

My 5D had a little downer here the other day. It happened to read my blog post, and even if I concluded that it was still holding up, it got upset about my lack of trust. So to make thing better, I took it out for a walk this morning. I went out just when the fog was clearing and did a reshoot of the location in the last post. This time I had.

  1. a tripod (not just IS)
  2. f/16  (not f/4)
  3. ISO 100 (not 3200)
  4. better light (not pitch dark)
I also think I got the composition better this time.
Both me and my old trusty felt much better.
You might have noticed I’m  bit sparse on writing. Busy at work. Well not that busy, but I’m writing so darn much now, so when I get home, all my words are spend.
I’m still working shots from my good old forest though. I’ve been browsing through a lot of old shots, and I’m amazed how many I have done that more or less fit into the series. Well, there is a massive amount that _could_ have been suited, but fell through. Obviously I have been working this ever since I moved here without thinking too much about it.

getting my stuff organized

As some of you may have noticed, I frequently walk around the forest by my home taking pictures. That is in fact something I enjoy very much, but I haven’t figured out what to do with the photographing until now. I don’t have it all clear, but while I was on one of my regular walks here the other day, I started to understand where I was heading (figuratively speaking. I suppose Martin Doonan can attest to the fact that I have no clue where I’m heading when I’m out walking).

I’m not going to put too many words on it yet, but the most obvious change is more color (Some of the previously posted B&W images will reappeared in color). The selection of images has tilted more towards the dark and wet. I have some work ahead of me going through the archives with new eyes, revising my selections and reprocessing.

The samples below is by no means finished, but they may give a hint on which direction I’m heading.
