The february folio

These images has been both in my blog, and one of them is the front page image of my web site, but that doesn’t prevent me from presenting them in this collection.

I like the how they look, and I think I will work more on this kind of images in the future.

You’ll find both the web gallery, and a pdf gallery at this location on my web page.

My mobile blog editor closes the comments

It seems like the PocketSharp editor close the posts for commenting.

I didn’t want that.

don't cut off your feed, please.

One thing I’ve noticed when I started to read blogs on my mobile phone is how insanely annoying it is to read rss feeds that cut off the article. I don’t really want to open the browser to read the rest. The pages are generally to complex to be viewed properly on this small screen. the rss reader one the other hand formats the text nicely, and fit the image.

I do find it a bit annoying on my desktop computer as well, but it is more managable.

so, if you want to make me happy, open your blogs preferrences and enable full feed, not just teasers.

A picture I took a couple of weeks ago.

There has been some debate around various blogs on colors vs. bw. Nothing controversial, just a discussion on how the different images are suitable for one or the other. This is one picture I have been sitting in lightroom turning colors on and off for a while now.

I think the color version is the best because it gives a much clearer impression of the time of day (dusk) due to the blue cast.

In gadget heaven..

Still playing with my new toy, the HTC Touch Cruise.

I used to own a Dell PDA that could connect using WiFi and Bluetooth. Well I still own that thing, but it hasn’t seen much use lately. It was rather nice to use, but still it fell through. First of all, I needed a mobile phone to get the communication going, but at the time, there was no 3G network, and GPRS was really slow (still is unless you add EDGE). This limited the usage. And then there was the problem of having yet another gadget in my pocket that needed care and battery charge. It just didn’t happen. Most of the time I managed to keep my phone charged, but the PDA went dead much faster. The bluetooth networking was also quite unreliable. The process of getting my phone to connect to the network and share that connection with my PDA could have been an amusing hobby in itself.

The combination of phone and PDA is so much better. The communication works seemless. If I don’t have WiFi connection, it uses 3G, EDGE or GPRS depending on what is available, and if I turn on the WiFi, and it finds a network, it uses that instead. Syncing a Windows Mobile device with a Mac could have been a difficult task, but I found this nice software called Missing Sync that solves this rather nice. for $39 you get to sync everything on the phone to whatever software you prefer on you Mac, and you get to install CAB files to the phone. WM software that is packed as .exe files is still a problem.

The phone came with a RSS reader, and I have added most of my favorite feeds so I can read on the subway to work.

Now I need to find some good software for blogging on the phone. I have tried PocketSharpMT, but I hope to find something better. Any suggestions is appreciated.

more mobile blogging

ok, looking through yesterdays post I saw more than my usual share of typos. it comes as no surprise that the input on such a small device is more cumbersome than an ordinary keyboard. in addition to that, i hadde norwegian word completion turned on.
